CARY, NC (PRWEB) JULY 4, 2004 SPCamo Workshop and Shrapnel Games are pleased to announce that the latest upgrade of SPCamo's SPWW2 is available via a free download from Shrapnel Games! SPWW2v7 and SPMBTv3 are tactical level wargames based on the code for the game Steel Panthers 2 released by Gary Grigsby, Keith Brors and SSI in 1996. SPWW2v7 covers 27 nations for the years 1930-1949 and SPMBTv3 covers the equipment and organization of 90 nations from 1946-2020. The games utilize a hexagon map and are alternating turn based (I go you go or IGOUGO) design.) One unit playing piece represents one vehicle or gun, or an infantry squad (section of up to 13 men) or a section of 1 to 4 support weapons. One game hexagon represents 50 metres of terrain. One game move (player 1 turn plus player 2 turn) represents roughly 3 minutes of 'real time'. It is an MSDOS program, but runs under most Windows installations when VESA compliant video cards are used. The game also runs under and on OS/2 as well as Linux with DOS emulators. Both games have had extensive OOB upgrades for these versions and the code has been expanded to allow for up to 999 units and formations for each nation in each game. Hundreds of new vehicle Icons and 13 totally new terrain features have been added. Maps are fully transferable between the two games. A great deal of work has gone into the map code and maps can now be created as small as 20x20 and can be expanded in 10 hex increments in both the X and Y axis up to 200x160 hexes. A further game enhancement is a map generator that allows maps to be auto created using 19 different variables. The OOB's will now allow Summer, Winter and Desert versions of vehicles to be entered and there has been a complete set of WW2 German and British Desert vehicle icons added as well as a complete set of winter icons for the Germans and Russians in WW2. These will be expanded in further upgrades of the games. “We wanted to give something to the community who has so generously supported us over the last 5 years.” Richard Arnesen, VP of Business Development for Shrapnel Games stated. “The SPCamo group has a long history of producing top notch products for the Steel Panthers community, and their newest release is no exception. We hope everyone enjoys the release of SP:WW2, and make sure to check back in a few weeks for the release of SP:MBT! About Shrapnel Games Shrapnel Games was formed in 1999 by Tim Brooks, a graduate of the University of North Carolina with a degree in Business Administration. Tim, who always had a passion for war and strategy gaming, had grown frustrated with the mainstream world of computer game publishing. Wargames were slowly becoming extinct thanks to the infatuation of publishers with glitzy but shallow titles. Rather than see his passion turned to memories Tim pulled himself up by his bootstraps and did something about it. Shrapnel Games is now recognized worldwide as one of the finest publishers of award-winning computer war and strategy titles on the market. About SPCamo SPCamo is an uncompensated, voluntary group of hobbyists committed to improving the Steel Panthers game system for the benefit of other hobbyists to enjoy. Our original game, SP2WW2, first was conceived in early 1998 and developed and released in December of that year. Many thousands of man-hours have been put into these games and we are drawing closer to our goal of finishing this project. We hope that you will enjoy playing both games as much as we have enjoyed creating them. For press related information please contact Scott R.
