The Armoured Interface Craft-4 is often employed when a drop area has yet to be secured. In short, the AIC-4 gets to its destined drop area intact while under fire from ground-based weaponry. The AIC-4 is capable of defending itself from attack by enemy starfighters or speeder craft. Often the AIC-4 lands, clears the immediate area of hostiles with its heavy repeating blasters and, after the platoon debarks, takes off for orbit to bring down more troops. Should enemy air defences prove too hazardous to risk a slow ascent, the AIC-4 may be grounded until air control is achieved. Nonetheless, the dropship maintains sufficient supplies to sustain the platoon it deployed to the planet's surface for at least three days. The AIC-4 also features a crude field hospital. This craft was designed to fit inside the ventral section of a Star Destroyer and transport troops by platoons to the surface of the targeted planet. |
