The Beta-class Assault Shuttle is the predecessor to the Gamma-class Assault Shuttle. Unlike the Gamma which employs a permanent-use Spacetrooper bay, the Beta is sectional and modular. This means that the main body of the Beta is a modular component which can be swapped with different modules such as: Spacetrooper Module (which comes with matching launch ports for quick deployment and power couplers for recharging Spacetrooper Armour), traditional troop module, weapons pod, or cargo bay. Its permanent forward cockpit section features enough room for the entire command crew of the shuttle. For its strength in its modular capabilities, also proves to be the Beta's weakness. This flaw revolves around the strains placed upon the modular coupling system, and the associated stresses that were spread along the shuttle's entire internal structure. And because of this flaw, the Beta-class Assault Shuttle requires a complete refitting only after two years of service. |
