The A280 Blaster Rifle is a military "longblaster" that was on the market at least after the Battle of Yavin. Along with the Merr-Sonn G8 and SoroSuub " Heavy Tracker" 16, the A280 is a standard issue weapon for Rebel infantry. Based upon its predecessor, an initial design of the DLT-20A, the A280's galven circuits are more concentrated near the focusing crystal, which results in a slight bulge at the weapon's midsection. It was also the first weapon on the market to incorporate the upgraded blaster galven pattern technology, which involved altering the standard code sequence of the galven pattern. The result is a blaster rifle that boasts increased firepower and accuracy. It is reputed to be the paramount armour-piercing rifle available in the Galaxy. This excellent and rugged rifle is known at medium range to cleave a fully armoured Stormtrooper nearly in two. Against our Imperial walkers however, this weapon is only capable of inflicting fist-sized dents. This weapon is not to be confused with BlasTech's A280 Sharpshooter Rifle, which features superior range and a greatly different appearance.
