The CR20 Troop Carrier is a three engine transport that was conceived prior to the outbreak of the Clone Wars, which saw use in the Corellian Sector's security forces. Its armament placement allows for covering the insertion and extraction of troops and their supplies. Around a month after the eruption of war, the Galactic Republic purchased surplus CR20s that had found their way outside of the Corellian Sector. Upon their acquisition, the Republic swiftly moved the CR20s to strategic launch points. When it proved impractical to deploy Acclamator-class Transports to move small infantry units as dictated in specific campaigns, the CR20 filled this requirement. This design saw use throughout duration of the Clone Wars. At least a few Venator-class Star Destroyers included a CR20 in their complement. Below the cockpit is the troop compartment. Embarkation and debarkation is achieved from the nose boarding ramp.
