All hazardous particulates are screened out of the air via self-sealing
filter system. Trooper is impervious to crowd control gases,
such as stun gas. No backup oxygen supply carried. [Communications]
A comlink scrambler allows each Guard to stay in contact with
other units and Coruscant Guard command. Due to this units can
remain dispersed, yet maintain full communications. Optional
tracking beacon software informs unit commanders the exact position
of all their troops. Voice activated HUD displays this information.

| Note : |
SOTE incorrectly suggests that the armour
consists of helmet and jacket (with possible other armour pieces?).
SOTE^C incorrectly depicts Coruscant Guard armour as Stormtrooper
torso, arms and codpiece armour, with khaki cargo pants and
black jackboots; while the helmet is unknown. |

The Coruscant Guard are drawn
from the ranks of Imperial Stormtroopers and are given specialized training
to allow them to operate as guards and law enforcement personnel on the
Imperial Centre. In this new capacity these troopers rarely engage in
military combat. Virtually anywhere on the Imperial Centre, Coruscant
Guards can be encountered. This police corps can also be found on other
Core Worlds, although in these cases they are not referred to as Coruscant
Guards. The highly-trained persons in these units are put through an intense
regimen of physical and psychological conditioning to ensure that they
are in peak shape, as well as unshakably loyal to our Emperor.
These troops are mostly deployed
to protect communications and transport facilities, essential bureaucratic
offices, and locations where large gatherings are probable. Maintenance
of order and security are their primary priorities due to the huge population
of the Imperial Centre. In order to carry out these objectives, they have
been charged with "martial law" powers. As such, any location
regardless of it being public or private can be searched without notice,
and any citizen suspected of illegal activities may be arrested even when
evidence is lacking. They also serve to protect the "purity of civic
thought" and maintain "Human High Culture" by apprehending
suspected Rebel operatives. The Coruscant Guard serves to protect citizens
and property from being ravaged by criminals and their activities.
What makes the Coruscant
Guard's armour notable and distinctive is its crimson and black colour,
as well as its sophisticated helmet. It has been suggested that this scheme
is designed to make these troopers memorable to all those who encounter
them. The armour donned by the Coruscant Guard is light and comfortable,
yet somewhat awkward to wear. It comes complete with heavy padding that
provides outstanding protection against non-energy attacks such as fists,
vibroweapons, and projectile slugs.
