The DR-X55 Imperial Lift-Mine is a top of the line lift-mine model that was in the Imperial inventory at least shortly after the Battle of Hoth. They are primarily deployed to block important mountain passes or other strategic locations. These dark orbs are visible to the naked eye. Often, they are employed to complement artillery fortifications. When heavy arms are in short supply, these mines can be solely deployed. Once a vehicle is targeted, the mine will quickly match its altitude in order to intercept. Standard Imperial procedure calls for setting the mines at different altitudes. In a fields of 100 mines for example, 40 are deployed from one to ten metres (to deal with land speeders and low-flying speeder bikes), 30 are placed from 11 to 25 metres (for high-flying speeder bikes), with the remaining 30 placed 26 to 40 metres (to block airspeeders and cloud cars from making low passes). These mines prove to be an effective deterrent against a foe. |
