The DSS-02 Shield Generator provides outstanding performance at deflecting orbital bombardment. However, these small units are incapable of stopping troops, war machines, and bombers from landing beyond the shield's perimeter. Due to this, bases employing these shield generators normally must maintain anti-vehicle weapons and other types of defences; which often forces attacking troops into arduous ground engagements similar to the Battle of Hoth. This was the type of shield generator employed by the Rebels at the Battle of Hoth.
