The Division 3 Field Agent is a member of the CompForce detachment that maintains a loose affiliation with the Imperial Bureau of Taxation. Division 3 (D-3), which was created at least shortly before the Battle of Hoth, was a newly formed division within the Imperial Bureau of Taxation. It was formed in order to coordinate efforts against the black market. Given the nature of CompForce's heavy handed methods, an aggressive and physically vicious campaign was carried out that resulted in an astonishing 70% of individuals apprehended requiring medical treatment. Many small businesses that once escaped Imperial notice were put under scrutiny (for lacking commerce permits). Thousands of unlicensed merchants of food and droid shops were fined or faced property seizure, while hundreds more were incarcerated. Although in the short run, the anti-contraband campaign was successful, its long term implications proved to be detrimental, since several merchants or their family members decided to enlist with the vile Rebellion.
