The Delta Class JV-7 Escort Shuttle is designed to carry the most valuable cargo, which is the highest ranking Imperial officers and diplomatic personnel through areas of extreme danger. This craft came into existence around the Battle of Hoth, as it was still considered to be new by the Imperial Navy (just after the Battle of Hoth). Its rear-mounted turbolaser turret, which is the most important weapon aboard this craft, has taken many enemy craft by surprise.

    These two engine craft are a design modification of the Lambda Shuttle for use as military assault and heavily armed escort vehicles. They may also be deployed as support craft for missions involving the Lambda-class Shuttle. This militarized version of the Lambda Shuttle is preferred over the original Lambda Shuttle due to its heavier armament and shielding. It is the preferred craft of VIPs.

    Unfortunately, Rebels and pirates use this craft as well. The Rebels first got their hands on the Escort Shuttle when they purchased a squadron of these craft from the Mugaari Pirates who had stolen them from Cygnus Spaceworks. Just after the Battle of Hoth, the Rebels employed these combat craft (purchased from the Mugaari Pirates) in their looting raid on Imperial Outpost D-34.
