The Gallofree Yards Medium Transport is used by the Rebels to transport supplies, equipment and troops. Some have been modified to be fuel tankers for long range fighter missions or for smaller ships. The usual supply cargo carried by these transports are food, medical supplies, spare parts, weapons and raw materials. The Rebels can adapt to these transports sealed passenger pods to transport their personnel. These transports tend to be in the centre of Rebel Fleet formations, and rely on starfighter support for their well being. Rebels piloting these transports make every effort to avoid combat. The hull of these transports are specially coated, heavy armour plating designed to absorb most casual sensor scans and thus unfortunately prevents long range Imperial scans from detecting these transports. Other countermeasure systems are carried onboard can defeat closer sensor scans, but these systems are not foolproof and vary in effectiveness. The hull bristles with the antennas and mechanism clusters of the enhanced sensor, navigation and communication systems.

The transport's outer hull is like a thick shell with the interior entirely open for cargo pods. Modular Cargo Pods greatly speed up loading and unloading procedures. When the transport is at its cargo capacity, a magnetic shield locks the modules in place, while at the same time keeps out the vacuum of space. The Rebellion uses smaller craft since they are easier to "acquire," maintain and conceal from the watchful eyes of the Empire. The command pod which is located on the upper hull, near the main engines carries the crew in cramp conditions, it also houses the shield generator to help protect the command pod. Behind the command tower of the Medium Transport is the main reactor cowl. The Medium Transport has three primary and six secondary drive engines. The four retractable landing gears and loading ramp are on the underside of the transport.

The Rebel Alliance purchased these transports at reduced prices. However, Rebel technicians maintain that the Rebel Alliance was ripped off in purchasing these transports. During the height of the Galactic Civil War these transports saw a lot of action because these transports were all the Rebel Alliance had to move supplies from one base to another. At any given rate these transports played a vital role to the Rebel Alliance. The Medium Transport has always been prone to breakdown and tends to spend as much time in repair bays as well in space.
