The Imperial Customs Frigate is slower and less durable than the Light Corvette, however it maintains heavier firepower and smaller crew requirements than the other design, which it frequently serves with. This design stands with the customs corvette (Light Corvette?) and cruiser (Guardian-class Light Cruiser?) to round out the customs patrol ships in use by Imperial Customs. This craft was in service at least by the time of the Battle of Yavin.

A pirate named Ga'p'tashi operates an Imperial Customs Frigate called the Nikto Kajidic. The Tenloss Syndicate assisted in obtaining the ship in return for Ga'p'tashi to conduct raids against the Hutts' illicit shipping operations. It is also known that an Imperial crew, under the command of Tor Skylow, decided to work against the ideals of the Empire, and thus turned to piracy. Their modified Customs Frigate, which no longer bears its visible Imperial configuration (due to structural changes) is called the Counter-Puncher.

*After Endor* It is known that two and a half years after the tragic Battle of Endor, New Republic agents operating from the Black Curs Base employed a stolen Imperial Customs Frigate which was modified. The ship, Battle of Yavin was intercepted by the Imperial Strike Cruiser Havoc in the Hensara System, and where the agents piloting the frigate were forced to ditch their ship in a lake on the planet of Hensara III.
